Welcome to the November edition of our Bulletin.
November was all about Melbourne Cup and a winning month for some of our club members.
5 November: Our members won at the Stone Corner Melbourne Cup Calcutta.
6 November: Gary O’Connor won the Melbourne Cup luncheon ticket and shared champagne with us.
13 November: We inducted a new member – Peter McPhee. A big win for Rotary Club of Hamilton.
November is also a month of history study. We learnt local history and had a big bus tour around Hamilton with the help of Margaret and Sue from Nundah Historical Society; we also learnt about Eddie Liu – The father of Brisbane China Town from his granddaughter Symantha Liu.
The BBQ for Aunties & Uncles – 25 November
As requested by Aunties & Uncles, we cooked BBQ for their Christmas Party on 25 November at the Hemmant Scout Hall.
Colleen, Desmond, Frank, Garry F, Garry O, Hugh, John and me attended the BBQ and had a lot of fun.
Robert Gray, the chairman of the Aunties & Uncles, sent his thanks to our club and posted on their Facebook: “A huge THANK YOU to
Hamilton Rotary Qld for cooking and supplying the sausages for over 200 people at our Christmas party on the weekend! We couldn't do it without you!!”
Well done! Members.
Club Meetings
We had two meetings at RQ in November -13 Nov and 27 Nov plus two activities as mentioned above.
It is a great success to see about 30 people came and enjoyed the talk about “Noodles and Vegemite – my life with Brisbane’s ‘Grandfather of Chinatown’ - Eddie Liu” by Symantha Liu.
Thanks everyone for supporting this event.
