President’s Message for September 2018 Bulletin

I was away from 15 – 30 September and Travis helped a lot as the acting President. Thanks a lot, Travis.
After speaking Japanese for two weeks, I am still adjusting Japanese and English while I am writing this bulletin. Here are the highlights of our club in September.

The Golf Day – 10 September:
Another great success even this year.
We raised about $15,000 for charity and gave $6000 to "Aunties & Uncles" ($5,000 from Golf Day and $1,000 from Gary Lillicrap).
Thanks Hugh again for his enormous efforts and all the members who involved in this annual event.

My Rotary and Club Runner Training:
One of our goal this year is to improve systematic club administration by using club runner and My Rotary.
Marcel conducted two trainings on My Rotary and Club Runner with a great result.
As at 16 July we only had 47.8% members registered for My Rotary. We now have 70.8% members registered for My Rotary comparing with 46% registered of our district 9600. It is over our target of 60%. Well done!
Most of the members also installed Club Runner Apps on their phones, so they can use Club Runner to check contact details of the members and our meeting program.
A big thanks to our IT guru – Marcel.

Meetings
We only had three club meetings in September and I missed two of them.
  •  4 September: PDG John Leddy gave a detailed introduction to the Rotary Foundation.
  • 18 & 25 September: Marcel conducted My Rotary and Club Runner training.
September is basic education and literacy Month and it is good to have club meetings to build up a strong club.
In October, we will be very busy with our first vocation visit to International House on 9th October; a joint meeting with Fortitude Valley club on 18th October (NO meeting on 16th October) and our first club social meeting on 23rd October at Breakfast Creek Hotel. We will be back to RQ on 30th October for the “Pride of Workmanship Awards”. If you want to nominate someone, please let Marilyn know.

We also need two speakers for 27 November and 11 December. Please let Gary Fenner know if you can help.
Projects & Activities:
  • 10 September: Golf Day
  • 15 September: Tree Plant and Cluster Picnic Day
  • 14 October: BBQ for meningococcal in Oriel Park
  • 20 October: Swimathon
District & Cluster:
  • 1 November: The Rotary Foundation Movie night organised by Club of New Farm.
  • 5 November: Rotary Club of Stone Conner Melbourne Cup Calcutta.
  • Albion trivia night 10 November - great to have a cluster presence.
Birthdays & Anniversaries:

Happy Birth Day for Michelle Wilson;
Congratulations 48 Anniversaries for Hugh and Carol Springer.
And we have 13 members joined Rotary in September. Congratulations to all.

Until next month, yours in Rotary Service.
Yours in Rotary Service
